Job summary

Fremont Hospital is seeking a dynamic Nurse Manager to ensure delivery of coordinated patient care in line with established standards, hospital philosophy and policy. You will supervise nursing staff and contribute to Performance & Improvement efforts while serving as a patient advocate.

Fremont Hospital is a fully accredited, 148-bed private inpatient psychiatric hospital serving adolescents, adults and seniors.

Qualifications

• Graduate from an accredited school of professional nursing required, Bachelor’s degree preferred, or equivalent combination of education and experience in psychiatric nursing management.
• Three (3) years experience in a psychiatric health-care facility preferred.
• Currently licensed to practice by the State Board of Nursing and in good standing.
• CPR (AED) certification must be obtained prior to the completion of orientation.

Responsibilities

• Provides supervision to the nursing staff and acts as a resource for hospital policies and procedures.
• Participates in the facility's Performance Improvement Program.
• Acts as the patient's advocate and assure that patient rights are upheld.
• Acts as a behavioral model of clinical and procedural expertise to other staff members through demonstration, teaching and mutual consultation.
• Maintains nursing operations by initiating, coordinating, and enforcing program, operational, and personnel policies and procedures.
• Assures quality of care by developing and interpreting hospital and nursing division's philosophies and standards of care; enforcing adherence to state board of nursing and state nurse practice act requirements and to other governing agency regulations; measuring health outcomes against standards; making or recommending adjustments.
• Maintains nursing staff by recruiting, selecting, orienting, and training nurses and auxiliary staff.
• Maintains nursing staff job results by coaching, counseling, and disciplining employees; planning, monitoring, and appraising job results.
• Establishes a compassionate environment by providing emotional, psychological, and spiritual support to patients, friends, and families.
• Provides information to patients and health care team by answering questions and requests.
• Maintains a cooperative relationship among health care teams by communicating information; responding to requests; building rapport; participating in team problem-solving methods.
