Mount Sinai Morningside seeks a Mental Health Associate to support Registered Nurses in the Psychiatry Care Center. You will provide direct care to patients and groups, assist with admissions, transfers and discharges, and help execute examinations and procedures as directed by the RN.

You will engage in crisis prevention and de-escalation, ensure patient safety, document care, and communicate with patients, families, and the interdisciplinary team to promote smooth transitions toward discharge.

Qualifications

• Associate degree or equivalent with some college-level coursework preferred.
• Basic Medical Assistant skills including EKG and Venipuncture preferred.
• One year of experience as a Nurse’s Aide or Patient Care Associate preferred.
• Crisis Prevention and Intervention training preferred.

Responsabilités

• Assists the nursing staff in performing selected nursing procedures and functional tasks to specific patients.
• Assists with admissions, transfer and discharge of patients according to policy and procedures.
• Provides direct physical care and one-to-one observation under supervision.
• Assists with patients’ examinations, treatments and procedures.
• Assists with lifting, positioning, moving and ambulating patients using body mechanics.
• Transports patients by wheelchair, stretcher or bed.
• Assists in crisis interventions and de-escalation of agitated patients.
• Answers call lights and reports patient concerns to the nurse.
• Documents care administered according to policy and participates in interdisciplinary meetings.
