Job summary

Forest View Hospital, part of Universal Health Services (UHS), seeks a Psychiatric RN for its Partial Hospitalization Program in Grand Rapids, MI. You will provide nursing care, develop treatment plans, and collaborate with a multidisciplinary team to support adolescents and adults.

Qualifications

• Graduation from an accredited school of nursing.
• 6-12 months of previous Psych Nursing preferred, demonstrating a strong understanding of the unit they will be assisting in leadership.
• Current RN licensure in the state of Michigan.
• Demonstrates clinical competency in providing general nursing care. Basic understanding of psychiatric nursing theory
• CPR/Handle With Care certification preferred.

Responsibilities

• Develop initial nursing treatment plan using the nursing process.
• Assess and deliver care for patients with co-occurring disorders.
• Continuously assess and reassess patient medical and psychiatric status.
• Plan and implement patient treatment with the team.
• Maintain safe, therapeutic milieu.
• Assist with discharge planning and patient discharges.
• Provide nursing interventions and education groups.
• Educate about medications and assess side effects and efficacy.
• Communicate medication procedures to patients and parents; ensure prescriptions sent home.
• Adhere to standards of care and infection control.
• Transcribe physician orders accurately.
• Handle crisis calls, referrals, assessments as needed.
• Maintain professional boundaries.
• Perform other duties as assigned.
