Job description

The standard schedule for this position is Monday through Friday, during regular business hours, typically from 8:00 AM to 4:00 PM or 9:00 AM to 5:00 PM. Coordinator may need to be present to meet with scheduled patients as early as 6:00 am as needed.

Job Summary:

Coordinates research and administrative activities in support of the institutional biobanking research initiative: Huntsman Cancer Institute-Total Cancer Care and the Oncology Research Information Exchange Network (ORIEN).

Responsibilities:

  1. Coordinates and performs responsibilities such as patient identification, recruitment, and offering enrollment in the Total Cancer Care study.
  2. Offers questionnaires to enrolled study participants regularly at the time of consent or via follow-up contact.
  3. Maintains information in patient databases and is responsible for data entry.
  4. Recognizes and informs study team of protocol deviations and participates in documentation of deviations.
  5. Assists the Total Cancer Care Managers with research and team-related tasks.
  6. Works closely with the Biorepository and Molecular Pathology Shared Resource and investigators and ensures proper collection and processing of specimens.
  7. Is responsible for arranging coverage when not present.
  8. Performs other responsibilities as required.

Knowledge of: Good Clinical Practices, FDA, HIPAA, and IRB regulations.

Minimum Qualifications:

Bachelor’s degree in a related field, or equivalency (one year of education can be substituted for two years of related work experience) required. IRB CITI Course in the Protection of Human Research Subjects certificate obtained within six months of hire and demonstrated human relations and effective communication skills are also required.

This position is patient-sensitive and must fulfill all associated requirements.

Preferences:

  • Successful applicants will be able to demonstrate the ability to interact effectively with patients, with other study team members, and will be organized with excellent communication skills.
  • Some research experience.
