Technique, Inc. in Jackson, Michigan is seeking a Prototype Welding Technician to join our team at the Jackson facility.

You will use MIG and TIG welding on stainless and carbon steel, operate robotic welders, and support quality with GD&T, blueprint reading, and CMM report interpretation.

This is a full‑time, on‑site role with safety emphasis, opportunities to develop others, and a path toward process improvement across prototype builds.

Qualifications

• Minimum 2 years of welding experience in an industrial setting.
• AWS Certification preferred.
• Ability to read blueprints and understand GD&T notation.

Responsibilities

• Set up and operate welding equipment on MIG/TIG for stainless and carbon steel.
• Identify materials and manage fixtures for welding operations.
• Operate Projection Welder and adjust settings as needed.
• Perform 1st piece layouts with basic GD&T understanding to support QA.
• Troubleshoot prototype welding builds and apply corrective actions.
• Process job folders and maintain quality documentation for each build.
• Assemble and verify prototype fixtures prior to quality approval.
• Load and run robot welder and perform repairs on assemblies after welds.
• Read and interpret CMM reports to ensure first-piece quality.
• Weld to AWS specifications and maintain compliance with required joint specs.
