Job summary

Schweitzer Engineering Laboratories (SEL) seeks a Hardware Engineering Technician to support our R&D Automation Hardware group in Pullman, WA. You will test prototype units, troubleshoot boards, and assist with system-level compliance testing as directed by engineers.

Responsibilities include building prototypes, documenting construction and evaluating components, with opportunities to contribute to ECOs. Strong writing and teamwork are essential.

Qualifications

• Two-year electronic technology or related associate degree.
• Working knowledge of modern analog and digital electronics and electronic circuits.
• Familiarity with modern test equipment.
• Familiarity with PLC and setting up or building computers.
• Strong writing, documentation, and speaking skills.
• Ability to learn new skills and assume new responsibilities.
• Ability to work cooperatively in a team environment.
• Background check results satisfactory to SEL.
• Negative drug test result(s).

Responsibilities

• Test prototype units and boards per defined procedures.
• Assemble and document prototype construction.
• Assist engineers in evaluating new electronic components.
• Assemble test fixtures, load banks, and related hardware.
• Provide support to engineering staff as needed.
• Process ECOs of modest complexity under supervision.
• Create and maintain clear documentation.
• Other duties as assigned.
