Job summary

Schweitzer Engineering Laboratories (SEL) in Pullman, WA, seeks a Hardware Engineering Technician for the R&D Automation Hardware group. You will test prototype units, troubleshoot systems, and assist with system-level compliance scans while supporting engineers and building prototypes.

Ideal candidates have an associate degree and knowledge of analog/digital electronics, test equipment, PLCs, and computer setup.

Qualifications

• Two-year electronic technology or related associate degree required.
• Working knowledge of analog and digital electronics and circuits.
• Familiarity with modern test equipment and PLCs.

Responsibilities

• Perform basic electronic hardware tests in accordance with defined engineering procedures under the direction of engineers or more experienced technicians.
• Build engineering prototypes under the direction of an electrical engineer or experienced technician.
• Document prototype construction and maintain pertinent engineering records.
• Assist engineers in the evaluation of new electronic components.
• Assemble test fixtures, load banks, and other components common to product development.
• Provide support to engineering staff as needed.
• Process Engineering Change Orders (ECOs) of modest complexity under the direction of engineers or more experienced technicians.
