Job summary

Rivian is seeking a Fabrication & Design Lead in Normal, IL to bridge engineering concepts with hands-on fabrication. This hybrid role combines CAD design, prototyping, and leading a small technician team to meet production schedules.

You will design components and carts, build and test prototypes, and ensure shop safety and quality standards while reporting onsite to the Continuous Improvement Manager in Normal, IL.

Qualifications

• 3+ years of professional experience in 3D CAD modeling, GD&T application, and generating technical drawing packages.
• 3+ years hands-on experience in a machine shop or prototype lab with manual/CNC equipment.
• 1–3 years of leadership experience in a shift, project, or shop lead role.
• Bachelor’s Degree in Mechanical/Manufacturing/Industrial Engineering or relevant trade certs with related experience.

Responsibilities

• Design 3D models, assemblies and fabrication drawings per GD&T standards.
• Develop carts, dollies, tooling and fixtures for rapid fabrication.
• Perform basic stress and tolerance analyses to validate designs.
• Lead daily stand-ups, assign work and improve shop workflow.
