Job summary

Rivian is seeking a Staff Material Flow Engineer at our Normal, IL facility to own end-to-end supply chain processes from external warehouses to the assembly line. You will lead design, modeling, and automation initiatives across a world-class engineering team, reporting to the Manager, Material Flow Engineering.

Responsibilities include developing layouts, implementing material flow equipment, and using AI to predict bottlenecks and optimize throughput in real time.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Supply Chain, Industrial Engineering, or a related field.
• 7+ years of supply chain or material flow engineering experience.
• 5+ years with data-based development of end-to-end supply chain, logistics, and/or material flow processes for high volume, high complexity production or logistics facilities.
• 3+ years’ experience in layout planning using 2D or 3D design platforms (AutoCAD, MicroStation, etc.).
• 1+ years’ experience with modeling or simulation software (Flexsim, AnyLogic).
• 1+ years’ experience working with data visualization tools (PowerBI, Tableau).
• Strong analytical ability to break down complex problems and communicate results to leadership.
• Technical leader capable of navigating ambiguity and leading cross-functional strategy.

Responsibilities

• Develop end-to-end supply chain and logistics processes from external warehouses to the assembly line.
• Design value-stream, logistics, routing, and warehouse layouts.
• Implement material flow equipment such as conveyors, EMS systems, AGVs, and ASRS.
• Develop models to analyze cost, throughput, and space factors for sequencing and storage.
• Plan, manage, and communicate project schedules aligned to milestones.
• Ensure safety, quality, cost, timing, and throughput targets on all projects.
• Lead automation of supply chain logistics using AI and advanced automation.
