Job summary

Rivian is seeking a Senior Development Engineer to lead hands-on prototype vehicle development, commissioning, and debug across vehicle software, instrumentation, and test assets. You’ll build and ready development vehicles and test systems for field and proving-ground use, including ADAS assets and OTA updates.

Qualifications

• Hands-on engineering across vehicle systems, electrical integration, and software-enabled development.
• Experience commissioning, debugging, and supporting prototype or early-development vehicles.
• Knowledge of low-voltage systems and controller/network integration.
• Experience with CAN and diagnostic/development tools (CANalyzer, CANape).
• Troubleshoot across software, controls, wiring, networks and hardware boundaries.
• Experience building or integrating prototype fixtures and instrumentation.
• Able to work in ambiguous environments with rapid problem solving.
• Familiar with Jira/Confluence for documenting technical work.

Responsibilities

• End-to-end ownership of prototype vehicle commissioning and activation of test assets.
• Diagnose and resolve vehicle software, electrical, and integration issues.
• Develop concepts for prototype systems and AI-assisted analysis tools.
• Execute development testing in dynamic, environmental, and off-road conditions.
• Analyze CAN, vehicle networks and logs to drive actions.
• Support ADAS and system-integration testing with instrumentation and assets.
• Provide technical support configuring tools and setups for testing.
• Travel up to 50% for field and proving-ground activities.
