Job summary

LG&P in Paramus, NJ seeks a Prototype Developer to transform ideas into retail-ready solutions. This hands-on role builds, tests, and refines prototypes ensuring concepts are functional, manufacturable, and reliable at retail.

You’ll collaborate with designers, engineers, and PMs to validate concepts and bring ideas to life. The position requires reading engineering prints, CAD familiarity, prototyping and testing ability, plus MS Office proficiency.

Qualifications

• Ability to read and interpret engineering prints with proper tolerancing.
• Willingness to travel and work outside regular hours as needed.
• Experience with CAD tools and 3D printing is a plus.
• Proficient with MS Office (Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Outlook).
• Familiarity with production/inspection methods and ADA basics is a plus.

Responsibilities

• Assess manufacturability, cost, installation ease, and reliability of concepts.
• Identify material conflicts and over/under engineering before release of parts.
• Track and prioritize prototyping requests with software tools.
• Adapt to changing project priorities to support R&D concepts.
• Provide recommendations for prototype revisions and improvements.
• Define setup, fixturing, and tooling to improve quality and reduce costs.
• Read/interprete engineering prints and document tolerances.
• Assist with testing procedures and supporting documentation.
• Create wire diagrams and schematics as needed.
• Collaborate in a team to learn new skills and cross-train.
• Perform tests on displays (electronics) and document results.
• Support validation of KPIs, ENG specs (dimensions, finish, color, BOM).
• Supervise teammates on the project and build stakeholder relationships.
• Address issues proactively and act as a self-starter.
• Program electronic devices to meet third-party guidelines and data needs.
• Ensure compliance with OSHA and company policies; report activities.
