Job summary

Enphase Energy, Inc. in Austin, TX, seeks a Mechanical Technician Temp for a 2-month, on-site assignment to support hands-on build-up, assembly, and integration of prototype solid-state transformer (SST) racks, skids, and enclosures.

You will perform rack and cabinet build-up, wire routing and verification, harness fabrication, power distribution assembly, and on-site testing with engineering teams. Candidates must be local to the Austin area, have 2+ years of electrical assembly experience, and

Qualifications

• Associate’s degree or technical certificate in Electrical Technology, Electronics, or related field; or equivalent military/trade training.
• 2+ years of hands-on electrical assembly, wiring, or technician experience in a lab, manufacturing, or prototype environment.
• Local to Austin, TX — must be able to report on-site daily for the full 3‑month contract duration; this is not a remote or hybrid position.

Responsibilities

• Rack and cabinet build-up—assemble electrical components onto 19-inch racks and cabinets per drawings.
• Point-to-point wiring—route, terminate, label, and verify wiring per diagrams; perform checks before power-on.
• Connector termination—crimp, solder, and terminate connectors per specs.
• Cable harness fabrication—build harnesses from cut sheets and drawings.
• Power distribution assembly—install busbars and disconnect switches per schematics.
• Instrumentation and sensor installation—mount and wire transducers and sensors.
• Testing support—assist with Hi-Pot, insulation tests, functional checkout, and power-on commissioning.
• Labeling and documentation—update drawings and build logs.
• Safety and housekeeping—follow LOTO and maintain a clean work area.
