Job summary

The Fountain Group in Madison Heights, MI is seeking a Quality Inspector to ensure vehicle components and prototypes meet safety, functionality, and appearance standards through incoming, in-process, and final inspections.

This full-time, union facility role supports a 2nd shift with options for 8- or 10-hour schedules, and overtime as needed. Automotive prototype experience and strong drawing/measurement skills are required.

Qualifications

• Reading blueprints, engineering drawings, and specs.
• Proficiency with precision measuring instruments.
• Strong math skills for dimensional calculations.
• Understanding of automotive quality standards.
• Experience with MS Word/Excel or ERP systems.
• Effective communication across departments.

Responsibilities

• Inspect prototype processes and verify compliance.
• Validate first piece inspection.
• Use precision tools and, if required, laser tracking or video inspection equipment.
• Identify and report non-conforming tools or materials.
• Read engineering drawings and determine inspection methods.
• Ensure calibration of inspection equipment and maintain calibration records.
• Maintain inspection records in the Quality Management System.
• Collaborate with toolmakers and engineers to improve tools or processes.
