Job summary

Bexar County Hospital District Police Department in San Antonio, TX seeks an on-site Dispatcher to receive emergency and non-emergency calls and to monitor life safety systems. You will use Computer-aided Dispatch (CAD) software to log calls and relay critical information to Telecommunication Officers, while supporting clerical tasks in a high-pressure environment.

The role requires a high school diploma or GED and at least one year of public-facing experience, with CJIS-based eligibility

• CJIS requirements: no felony convictions or open arrests.

Responsibilities

• Assist with receiving emergency and non-emergency calls into the Protective Services dispatch center.

Salary Range: $18.15 - $20.75

POSITION SUMMARY/RESPONSIBILITIES

Under general supervision will assist with receiving emergency and non-emergency phone calls for service into the Protective Services dispatch center. Monitors life safety systems to include fire systems, intrusion alarms and video surveillance systems. Use desktop computer aided dispatch software (CAD) to enter information related to calls for service and provide information to Telecommunication Officers in order for emergency/non-emergency resources to be provided to the community, and to assist in clerical and other incidental activities. Performs support for telecommunication operations and related activities in accordance with departmental and University Health policies Must be able to function under stressful conditions while ensuring prompt, efficient and courteous handling of all calls. Maintains good harmonious work environment. Have the ability to multi-task.

EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE

High school diploma or GED. One year of experience in public contact either in person or by telephone. Preferred one (1) year experience as an emergency services dispatcher and/or 911 Call Taker or One (1) year of experience in a high call volume contact center.

Due to CJIS requirements related to system access, applicant must not have any of the following:

• Class A & B Misdemeanor Deferred Adjudication
• Class B Misdemeanor Convictions
• Any Open Arrest for Any Criminal Offense (Felony or Misdemeanor)
• Any Family Violence Convictions
