Bexar County is seeking a Public Safety Operator for the Sheriff’s Office Communications Center. This full-time role handles emergency and non-emergency calls, routes to dispatchers, and operates CAD, CIJS, RMS, and 9-1-1 systems to provide accurate information and rapid service.

The position requires a high school diploma or GED, typing proficiency, calmness under pressure, and valid driver’s license. Training includes TLETS and background checks within one year of employment.

Qualifications

• Requires High School Diploma or GED.
• Typing test: 40 wpm with minimal errors; pass test per Workforce Solutions procedures.
• Ability to stay calm in emergencies and communicate tactfully with diverse groups.
• Must obtain TLETS and pass background checks within specified timelines.

Responsabilités

• Answer emergency and non-emergency calls and route to dispatchers.
• Assess severity based on caller information.
• Enter call data and prioritize service in database.
• Provide information on case numbers, arrivals, and addresses.
• Research databases for licenses, warrants, and records.
• Assist training of new staff on procedures and equipment.
• Perform clerical duties and document calls as required.
