Position Summary

As a Protective Security Officer (PSO) serving on a Federal Government contract, you will be responsible for maintaining security, enforcing regulations, and ensuring the safety of personnel and property. This position requires professionalism, vigilance, and a commitment to excellence in service. This is a post with limited available hours, requiring a high level of alertness and situational awareness at all times. Arrive on time and ready for duty, ensuring operational efficiency. Demonstrate respect, professionalism, and courtesy in all interactions. Adhere to strict grooming and uniform standards, including maintaining shined boots and a professional appearance. This is a Union position.

Pay Transparency / Compensation

$18.00 while in training then $30.89/hr

Health and Welfare $5.13 Cash in lieu

Responsibilities
  • Provide security protection and access control
  • Protect all government property, classified material, and personnel within assigned areas to prevent unauthorized access, theft, or destruction
  • Report/respond to unusual or emergency situations
  • Be alert for potential security, property, or safety concerns and initiate appropriate actions
  • Control ingress/egress into and/or out of posted/controlled/security areas
  • Prevent/report violations of security and safety rules and regulations
  • Respond to alarm signals or suspicious activities
  • Maintain knowledge of all security and guard orders related to duties
  • Perform other duties as assigned
Qualifications
  • Must be a U.S. Citizen or Lawful Permanent Resident with honorable discharge from the US Armed Forces
  • Minimum 21 years of age
  • Valid Social Security Card issued by SSA
  • At least 2 years of armed security experience or 1 year of law enforcement in full-duty status, or 2 years of honorable service in US Armed Forces
  • Firearms training and qualifications meeting state/federal standards
  • Fluent in English, able to read, write, and report coherently
  • Experience with securing facilities and vehicles
  • Physically capable of standing a 12-hour post
  • High School diploma or GED
  • Ability to pass background, drug, physical, and suitability tests
  • Proficiency with a handgun
Working Conditions

Work is in a busy federal facility, often with interruptions, long hours, outdoor conditions, and exposure to hazards such as noise, heat, cold, chemicals, and moving equipment.

Physical Requirements

Must be physically fit to respond quickly, engage physically if necessary, and stand for long periods. May require climbing, walking on uneven terrain, and wearing protective gear. Travel may be required.
