Job summary

FirstEnergy’s Mon Power division in West Virginia is seeking a Protection and Controls Technician to install, test, and maintain protective relays and substation automation equipment. You will work closely with engineers, relay specialists, and field crews to ensure reliable operation of protection schemes.

You’ll use Enoserv RTS and Doble ProTest, travel within the Mon Power territory, and adhere to safety and CIP/NERC standards while supporting storm restoration and continuous system

Qualifications

• Bachelor's or Associate degree in Electrical Engineering Technology or related field, or equivalent experience.
• Ability to read and interpret control prints and relay schematics.
• Willingness to travel within Mon Power territory, including overnight stays.

Responsibilities

• Install, test, calibrate, maintain, modify, and repair protective relays and related control systems.
• Operate high-voltage switching (12 kV–765 kV) as needed under supervision.
• Support Substation Integration, SCADA, and communications equipment to ensure reliable data delivery.
