Job summary

FirstEnergy is seeking an Engineer IV-level professional to support relay testing systems and field personnel. The role involves developing and issuing relay test routines, providing training, and ensuring documentation supports NERC PRC-005/PRC-012 compliance.

Travel to sites and mentorship of technicians are expected as part of daily duties. The ideal candidate holds an ABET-accredited engineering degree (Electrical, Civil, or Mechanical) with FE certification preferred, and demonstrates

Qualifications

• Bachelor of Science degree in Electrical, Civil or Mechanical Engineering (BSEE, BSCE, BSME) from an ABET accredited institution is required.
• Acceptable alternatives include PE license or a related ABET-accredited or equivalent degree with advanced engineering study.
• FE Certificate is preferred.

Responsibilities

• Relay Testing System support and field technical assistance for relay test software.
• Develop, test, issue relay test routines and provide training to field personnel.
• Review maintenance orders and assist CIP field visits and cyber vulnerability assessments.
• Support regulatory commitments including NERC PRC-005/PRC-012 and related documentation.
• Travel as needed and mentor technicians; manage multiple projects to meet deadlines.
