Job summary

American Electric Power is seeking a P&C Technician to join our team in Texas. You will assist in installation, testing, and maintenance of protection and control devices and related equipment across stations, telemetry, and SCADA systems.

The role requires an Associate's degree in electrical technology, no prior experience, and a valid driver's license. Travel and overtime may be involved, with emphasis on safety and compliance.

Qualifications

• Associate's degree in electrical engineering technology, electronic technology or related field.
• No previous work experience required.
• Must have a valid state driver’s license.
• Ability and desire to travel and work overtime.
• Must successfully complete Physical Abilities Test (PAT).

Responsibilities

• Assist in acceptance and installation tests on protection, control, and measurement devices.
• Assist in installation, maintenance, and operation of protection, control, and communications equipment.
• Perform switching under direct supervision of qualified personnel.
• Maintain records, reports and drawings as required.
• Assist with diagnosis of trouble and corrective actions to repair equipment.
• Operate test equipment to test, calibrate, and retrieve data from protection and control devices.
