Job summary

AEP Texas Company, Inc. is seeking a P&C Technician Sr to support installation, testing, and maintenance of protection and control devices and related equipment across stations.

You will assist with SCADA, PLCs, and communications systems and respond to urgency calls to restore service. The role requires an Associate's degree in electrical technology or related field, severe physical demands, a valid driver’s license, and willingness to travel.

Qualifications

• Education: Associate's degree in electrical engineering technology, electronic technology or related field; or equivalent education and/or experience.
• Work experience: No previous work experience required.
• Other requirements: Heavy physical demand, travel and overtime may be required, must complete Physical Abilities Test (PAT) and obtain/maintain valid driver's license.

Responsibilities

• Assist in acceptance and installation tests on protection, control, and measurement devices and equipment in stations.
• Assist in installation, maintenance, and operation of power line carriers, station SCADA, and related communications equipment.
• Perform switching under direct supervision of qualified personnel following directions of the operating authority.
• Assist in installing, maintaining, and operating new equipment or systems as assigned.
• Maintain test and diagnostic equipment in good condition to support safe work throughout the system.
• Prepare and maintain accurate records, reports, and drawings as required.
