Job summary

Eversource in the United States (Connecticut) seeks a Protection and Control Engineer to design and operate protection and control systems for the transmission and distribution grid. You will analyze system protections, develop relay logic, and coordinate with planning, operations and field personnel to ensure reliability.

This role requires a BS or MS in Electrical Engineering, 3+ years of experience, and familiarity with IEC 61850 and ASPEN One-liner.

Qualifications

  • BS or MS in Electrical Engineering with focus on power systems preferred.
  • Minimum of 3 years of electrical engineering experience required.
  • Protection and control experience preferred including relay settings.
  • Experience with ASPEN One-liner modeling and IEC61850 protocols is desirable.

Responsibilities

  • Review proposed changes to electric facilities for protection compatibility.
  • Create protection and control system designs per Eversource standards.
  • Specify materials for protection and control projects.
  • Develop relay settings and logic for system reliability projects.
  • Perform coordination studies using fault simulation software.
  • Interface with Planning, Operations and Field personnel for reliability goals.
  • Support storm/emergency restoration assignments as needed.
  • Peer review designs and relay settings with team members.
