Job summary

Siemens Smart Infrastructure in Wendell, NC is offering an intern program in Protection & Automation. The program trains students in assembling, wiring, testing, and documenting industrial control panels for substations, with mentorship from Siemens engineers.

Eligible candidates are enrolled in an Associate-level Electrical Engineering or related program, with strong safety awareness and English proficiency; a direct path to PA Technician roles exists after completion.

Qualifications

  • Currently enrolled in an Associate-level program in Electrical Engineering or related field.
  • Interested in power systems, protection relays, and automation panels.
  • Ability to lift parts or sub-assemblies up to 50 lbs occasionally.
  • Proficiency in English (reading, writing, speaking).
  • Authorized to work in the United States without sponsorship.

Responsibilities

  • Assist in assembling and wiring industrial control panels for electrical substations.
  • Learn wire cutting, crimping and routing using Siemens standards.
  • Support panel testing and verification, including safety checks and documentation.
  • Gain exposure to fiber optic and Ethernet testing in protection systems.
  • Participate in FATs with customers and Siemens engineers.
  • Collaborate with technicians and engineers to integrate protection relays into substation apps.
