Job summary

Burns & McDonnell’s Protection Applications Department Manager leads a high-performing team in the Upper Midwest T&D Global Practice, driving safety, quality, and client-focused outcomes. You’ll manage, develop, and execute business strategy while fostering an inclusive employee-owner culture and ensuring project deliverables meet rigorous standards.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering from an accredited program.
• 7+ years of professional experience in the design and execution of microprocessor-based protection systems.
• 3+ years of experience preparing protection relay setting calculations.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills with the ability to clearly convey complex technical and business information.

Responsibilities

• Apply applicable industry standards, client requirements, and NERC regulatory requirements for protection of electric system equipment.
• Develop protection design calculations and relay settings.
• Provide engineering support for construction and commissioning activities.
• Promote quality and continuous improvement across the department.
