Job summary

Qualifications

• Board certification in Prosthetics and/or Orthotics or a baccalaureate degree with ABC Board-Eligibility.
• Valid driver’s license and driving record compliance.
• State licensure may be required in some states.
• Discipline-specific certification allows cross-discipline patient care during residency.
• 5+ years of prosthetic/orthotic experience acceptable if not board-certified.
• Strong knowledge of biomechanics, gait analysis, anatomy, and physiology.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
• Ability to instruct clinical and non-clinical staff and patients.
• Ability to lift patients and equipment up to 50 pounds.
• Adequate near and distant visual acuity and dexterity.

Responsibilities

• Provide comprehensive prosthetic and orthotic patient care for adults and children.
• Collaborate with physicians to evaluate needs and propose treatments.
• Examine and evaluate patients in relation to disease and functional loss.
• Design prosthetic and orthotic devices based on patient needs.
• Select materials, take casts, modify models and prepare layouts.
• Perform fitting with static and dynamic alignments and adjustments.
• Ensure device fit, function, and medical efficacy; provide follow-up care.
• Instruct patients on proper device use and care.
• Maintain detailed clinical notes for patient records.
• Mentor residents or new clinicians as needed; assist other staff.
• Support reimbursement activities and comply with safety and regulatory standards.
• Meet with physicians and referral sources to strengthen business relations.
• Plan strategies to meet revenue targets; contribute to program development.
• May perform on-call or hospital visits and move between Hanger Clinic locations.
