Job summary

Marotta Controls, Inc. in Montville, NJ is seeking a Technician/Mechanic II to set up and operate pneumatic, hydraulic, mechanical, and electromechanical assemblies for in-space propulsion.

You will assemble and test Delta-V production hardware, following schematics and specs, and perform first-pass rework as needed. This full-time role requires 3–5 years in manufacturing/testing, hands-on use of electronic test equipment, reading drawings, and strict adherence to safety, lean, and quality

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• 3–5 years in manufacturing/testing environment.
• Mechanical or electro-mechanical products measurement and testing experience.
• Ability to read schematics and use measurement tools to verify geometries.
• Experience with electronic test equipment.
• Familiar with high-pressure fluids and related chemicals.
• Knowledge of Lean concepts, ESD, FOD, and PPE.
• Good verbal and written communication.
• MS Office and basic PC skills.
• U.S. citizen

Responsibilities

• Primary duty is to ensure that products perform their proposed functions in a satisfactory manner.
• Read, interpret documents (i.e. procedures, schematics/technical drawings, etc.) and use necessary measuring devices/equipment to confirm tooling/fixturing geometries and dimensions.
• Conduct all work in accordance with approved technical data, customer specifications and regulatory requirements including mil-specs.
• Set up and use electronic instruments, load testing devices, microscopes, various measuring instruments.
• Setup and operate tools required for assembly including, but not limited to; standard hand tools, load testing devices, micrometers, depth mics, calipers and microscopes.
• Setup and operate equipment required for testing including, but not limited to; multimeters, ohmmeters, voltmeters, pressure, gauges and transducers, data recorders, load cells, and flow meters.
• Install, operate and maintain high-pressure nitrogen, helium and skydrol test equipment.
• Assemble products, install internal components; use arbor press/fixtures; apply lock wire and torque seal.
• Conduct end-of-line functional testing on valve components and record results.
• Assist with testing equipment maintenance and/or repair.
• Maintain accurate parts and part count for each job.
• Identify causes for test failures, perform rework, and submit suggestions for corrective action to supervisor for approval.
• Seek, document, and support Lean ideas to improve the efficiencies of the company.
• Maintain all hand tools in clean working condition.
• Notify supervisor of any equipment that requires repair.
• Properly handle and dispose of chemicals used, utilizing proper PPE (as required)
• Identify any routings discrepancy and notify supervisor so changes can be made if necessary
