Job summary

Northrop Grumman Defense Systems, with an Elkton, MD presence, is seeking an experienced Propulsion Engineer – Structural and Dynamics Analyst. The role focuses on developing acoustic, shock, and vibration environments to support solid rocket motor programs and component design.

The candidate will perform advanced structural dynamic analyses, prepare reports, and collaborate with internal and external customers. Level depends on demonstrated skills and experience; clearances may be required.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s Degree in STEM plus years of related experience (varies by level).
• Significant experience in modeling with FEA software (ABAQUS, NASTRAN, ANSYS, FEMAP, Wave6 or equivalent).
• Programming skills in MATLAB, Simulink or Python.

Responsibilities

• Develop acoustic, shock and vibration environments and loads for design validation.
• Perform structural dynamic analysis simulation and modeling for multiple product lines.
• Prepare technical reports and presentations for internal and external customers.
• Provide system-level test support and assess test hardware and data.
• Assist design of experiments to obtain data for validation.
