Job summary
Northrop Grumman is seeking an experienced Principal Propulsion Engineer for its Elkton, MD facility to design and analyze solid rocket motors for launch vehicles and missiles. You will collaborate with interdisciplinary teams to meet program milestones and coordinate strategies, while working directly with customers on requirements and design drivers.
The role requires a STEM degree with 5+ years of experience, DoD Secret Clearance eligibility, and familiarity with SRM components and GD&T.
Qualifications
- Must have a bachelors degree in STEM and at least 5 years of experience.
- Masters degree with 3 years of experience or PhD with 1 year of experience preferred.
- US citizenship and ability to obtain DoD Secret Clearance.
Responsibilities
- Collaborate with interdisciplinary teams to meet program milestones and customer expectations.
- Work directly with customers to understand requirements and design drivers.
- Coordinate a multi-disciplinary strategy for design, optimization, and analysis to meet mission requirements.
- Design SRM assemblies/components (cases, nozzles, propellant grains) focusing on safety and program needs.
- Perform high-level performance and sizing calculations on SRM components and assemblies.
- Produce detailed drawings for component fabrication and assist with SRM builds and testing.
