Job summary

Northrop Grumman is seeking a Product Design Engineering Manager 1 in Ronkonkoma, NY to lead a team of engineers within the Advanced Propulsion & Systems market area, focusing on high-speed propulsion development and testing. The role demands strong engineering leadership and cross-functional collaboration.

Ideal candidates will have 5+ years in propulsion design and a track record of delivering programs on time, with the ability to present to executives and manage resources effectively.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in STEM, Mechanical or Aerospace Engineering preferred.
• Minimum 5 years of experience in proposal, design, and development of jet engine or high-speed propulsion systems.
• Strong technical background in propulsion systems, risk assessment, planning, and program execution.
• Ability to obtain Secret Clearance; US citizenship required.
• Ability and willingness to travel 10-25%.

Responsibilities

• Manage a group of approximately 5-10 project and design engineers supporting multiple development programs.
• Ensure technical approaches, designs, and technical plans meet requirements, objectives, and cost/schedule constraints.
• Mentor and coach staff; provide performance feedback and career development.
• Coordinate with engineering, program management, and other departments to align with goals.
• Apply sound engineering principles and ensure compliance with NGDS processes and standards.
