Job summary

King County’s Finance and Business Operations Division, Treasury section, seeks a Revenue Collections Specialist (Fiscal Specialist 3) to handle property tax payments, AR, and related reconciliation in a high-volume, in-office setting.

The ideal candidate is detailed, customer-focused, and able to adapt to evolving processes, with experience in data entry, MS Office, and payment processing. This role is office-based in Washington state and supports county-wide tax operations.

Qualifications

• Clerical or data entry experience with high accuracy and deadlines.
• Ability to research, analyze and resolve financial transactions.
• Strong communication, writing and customer service skills.
• Proficiency with MS Office and common workplace tech.

Responsibilities

• Use high-volume mail processing to reconcile and enter payments into the property tax system; send electronic deposits to the bank.
• Open and prepare incoming property tax payments for processing and posting to tax accounts.
• Process incoming electronic payments via wire or ACH into the property tax system.
• Conduct daily journal entries of payments into Oracle EBSSort; manage tax statements, mailings, and notices.
• Verify payment accuracy against amounts owed; research discrepancies; prepare refunds and payment returns; train temps.
• Process Accounts Receivable payments and electronically deposit to the bank; transmit to AR system.
• Communicate tax information by email, phone, and in person to taxpayers, Treasury staff, and external agencies.
• Provide backup support for the cashier and other team members.
