Job summary

Shelter Corporation is seeking an Assistant Real Estate Manager for our Florida communities. You will support the Real Estate Manager in daily operations, including financials, leasing support, and resident relations, ensuring consistency across leasing, collections, and compliance.

The role involves processing payments, handling delinquency, assisting with certifications, and aiding with occupancy and reporting. Bilingual English/Spanish is a plus; Yardi experience preferred.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• 1+ years affordable housing experience.
• 1+ years HUD experience in project-based Section 8 compliance.
• Experience with leasing, collections, and compliance processes.
• Experience with Yardi or similar property management systems preferred.

Responsibilities

• Support daily operations and ensure consistent coverage.
• Assist with workflows and policies; act as Real Estate Manager when needed.
• Process rent payments and maintain resident ledgers.
• Manage delinquency, notices, and payment plans per policy.
• Assist with eviction processes and monthly financial reporting.
• Support LIHTC, HUD, and Section 8 requirements.
• Process certifications and maintain audit-ready resident files.
• Process applications, leases, move-ins and move-outs.
• Support leasing efforts, follow-ups and occupancy goals.
• Respond to resident concerns and assist with conflict resolution.
• Coordinate with maintenance on work orders and unit turns.
• Track work orders and support vendor coordination.
• Maintain records within property management systems.
