The Salvation Army in Sarasota Area Command is seeking a Property Department lead for full-time, on-site work. You will plan and supervise maintenance, manage repairs and renovations, and ensure security across facilities and fleet assets.
Qualifications include HVAC/plumbing/electrical trades coursework and 7+ years of skilled maintenance with supervisory experience; a valid driver’s license is required. Level 2 background screening applies.
Position: Full Time Regular. Location: Sarasota Area Command, Sarasota, FL. Department: Property. This role plans, develops, administers, leads, and supervises the Property Department; participates in strategic planning and evaluation of property operations; procures materials and services to obtain the best price and product; provides oversight of facility projects from conceptual stage through planning and construction; tracks project progress and costs in electronic and physical files.
Position involves driving daily and outdoor work with exposure to weather and conditions such as rain, cold, heat, noise, dust, and dirt. Must be able to exert mental and visual effort for sustained concentration, work under deadlines, and handle interruptions. Requires reading, writing, and communicating in English; ability to prepare and deliver verbal presentations; proficiency in necessary software; attendance as required; ability to perform continuous walking, stooping, standing, and some climbing; ability to travel to locations throughout the Area Command.
Education and Experience: Two years of coursework from a vocational or technical school in heating, ventilation, and air conditioning, plumbing, electrical, and construction trades; seven years of progressively responsible experience performing skilled maintenance and repair work for commercial buildings and grounds, with at least two years in a supervisory capacity; or any equivalent combination of training and experience that provides the required knowledge and abilities.
Licenses and Certifications: Valid driver’s license. Project Manager certification preferred but not required.
