Job summary

Collier County is seeking a qualified inspector to administer the property maintenance program, focusing on complex violations, nuisance abatement, and foreclosures. The role involves travel to housing locations, inspecting dwellings, guiding owners/tenants to meet standards, and coordinating with relevant departments to enforce codes.

Ideal candidates will have an Associate degree and at least 3 years of related experience, with fingerprinting required.

Responsibilities

• Travels to housing locations to inspect dwelling units and assess minimum housing needs, counsels owners/tenants/agents, and develops plans to meet standards.
• Enforces minimum housing specifications and recommends modifications.
• Performs site inspections during repairs to ensure compliance with building codes and issues certificates of occupancy when appropriate.
• Certifies that minimum property maintenance standards are met and monitors ongoing maintenance.
• Maintains documentation on all properties to meet ordinance requirements.
• Acts as liaison between owners and contractors to ensure timely, quality repairs and mediates disputes when necessary.
• Conducts proactive patrols to detect violations and performs on-site environmental inspections.
