Job summary

Markel Group seeks a senior underwriter to oversee growth and profitability of the commercial property product line. You will set underwriting standards, guide regional teams, and drive strategic initiatives across our national network.

With 15+ years in underwriting and strong communication, you will lead training, manage client relationships, and travel up to 25%. US work authorization is required. Markel offers competitive benefits and incentive plans.

Qualifications

• Minimum 15 years of underwriting expertise with 5+ years in Property.
• Superior verbal and written communication skills.
• Collaborative and high-energy self-starter with urgency.
• Ability to travel up to 25%.

Responsibilities

• Identify new market opportunities and cross-sell by solving client needs.
• Maintain pricing standards and underwriting authority for commercial property.
• Set underwriting standards and strategy for the commercial property product.
• Manage Property products including portfolio aggregation.
• Provide underwriting direction to regional teams and ensure execution.
• Coordinate product-line training for underwriters and staff.
• Review accounts beyond assigned authority levels promptly.
• Relay concerns to Senior Leadership based on interactions with management.
• Collaborate with Business Development to manage client relationships.
• Assist in developing new business opportunities.
