City of Pittsburgh seeks Police Property & Evidence Technicians to support law enforcement by securely managing property and evidence. This non-sworn position assists officers with receipt, storage, and safekeeping, while maintaining chain-of-custody and compliance with Pennsylvania procedures.

The department is Public Safety/Bureau of Police. Candidates must have an Associate's degree in Criminal Justice or related field and at least one year of relevant admin or property/evidence experience;

Competenze

• WORK EXPERIENCE: The application must clearly show one year of full-time experience in administrative work and/or police property/evidence work.
• EDUCATION/TRAINING: An Associate's degree in Criminal Justice, Public Administration, or a related field is required.
• EQUIVALENCY: Education and/or experience may be substituted on a year-for-year basis to meet the total required qualification (3 years).

Mansioni

• Receives and documents property and evidence from officers and other sources.
• Safely stores and organizes property and evidence.
• Conducts regular inventory of the evidence room and property.
• Maintains accurate chain-of-custody records to ensure evidence integrity.
• Maintains procedures for custody and handling of evidence.
• Tracks statute of limitations and legal time frames.
• Processes evidence for transfer to laboratories or prosecutors as needed.
• Keeps City records confidential as required.
• Assists individuals with property or evidence inquiries.
• Assesses evidence for disposition (return, destruction, or disposal).
• Performs related tasks and duties as assigned.
