City of Pittsburgh seeks Police Property & Evidence Technicians to support law enforcement by securely managing property and evidence. This non-sworn position assists officers with receipt, storage, and safekeeping, while maintaining chain-of-custody and compliance with Pennsylvania procedures.
The department is Public Safety/Bureau of Police. Candidates must have an Associate's degree in Criminal Justice or related field and at least one year of relevant admin or property/evidence experience;
Police Property & Evidence Technicians play a vital role in supporting law enforcement operations by ensuring the safe, secure, and accurate management of property and evidence. Property & Evidence Technician is a non-sworn position that will be responsible for assisting PBP officers in managing the receipt, storage, and safekeeping of property and evidence collected. They maintain accurate records, ensure the integrity of the chain of custody, and dispose of property according to legal and departmental procedures. Technicians will work in a support role, ensuring PBP policies are adhered to under the rules of criminal procedure of Pennsylvania. Individuals assigned to this task are expected to perform the full range of duties as assigned, working independently, applying program knowledge, and exercising judgment and initiative while having contact with the public.

This position is included in the American Federation of State, County, and Municipal Employees, Local 2719 bargaining unit and will be filled in accordance with the provisions of the Collective Bargaining Agreement.
