Job summary

American Avenue in Detroit, MI is seeking a Maintenance Manager to lead a team of Property Engineers across our in-house labor pool. You will train, coach, and evaluate technicians, while coordinating tasks with the GM to ensure efficient operations and timely responses to work orders.

You will drive process improvements, mentor new hires, and work closely with dispatchers to resolve emergencies quickly. A strong background in construction and people leadership is required, with travel as needed.

Qualifications

• 7+ years in renovation, turn, or maintenance on homes.
• 5+ years leading a team of at least 5 contributors.
• Hands-on and solution-driven with readiness to travel.
• Coaching mindset and ability to train new hires.
• Strong cultural leadership and safety awareness.

Responsibilities

• Identify gaps and train new hires to raise team performance.
• Coordinate morning and mid-day task assignments with GM.
• Lead emergency responses with dispatchers to quick resolution.
• Assist in interviewing and evaluating candidates.
• Uphold data-driven performance metrics.
