Job summary

Tyler Technologies is seeking a Property Data Collector in Lawrenceville, Georgia. Job description

Property Data Collector

The Property Data Collector inspects a variety of residential or commercial/industrial properties to ensure that the property record reflects current and accurate property characteristics. They collect detailed and comprehensive property data, verify the accuracy of previously collected data, and identify the use of buildings and building special features. This role requires working primarily outdoors in all weather conditions, walking and driving to properties in a designated jurisdiction using a personal vehicle. The incumbent meets with their manager at pre‑selected field sites at the beginning or end of the day and, in later project stages, reports to or works from the local appraisal office and may assist with Desktop Review. The data collected has a direct impact on accurate property taxes and overall project completion.

Responsibilities
  • Physically walk around properties and examine all buildings to determine required characteristics on residential or commercial/industrial properties; drive to property locations and enter/exit vehicles.
  • Spend time in the field and office depending on the project phase.
  • Verify property location by associating information from field documents with the map.
  • Measure buildings, perform mathematical calculations on buildings of various sizes, identify building and special features, and inspect interior and exterior buildings.
  • Accurately record property characteristics, square footage, angles, sketches, and dimensions on field documents or mobile devices.
  • Take clear digital images of properties, including specified parcel improvements if required.
  • Gather cost and sales information and record it on appropriate devices.
  • Obtain income and expense information through verbal or written requests.
  • Update data on physical condition and grade of buildings.
  • Maintain personal production records in alignment with productivity targets; complete logs, control forms, and required documentation.
  • Communicate professionally with the public and represent Tyler and the client in a courteous manner, escalating to supervisors as appropriate.
  • Investigate properties, including multiple buildings; ask probing questions to capture accurate data and research related components.
  • Analyze aerial images to detect changes between tax years and identify missing data.
  • Conduct thorough parcel reviews similar to field assessments.
  • Use multiple monitors and software systems to perform duties efficiently.
  • Maintain high levels of productivity and accuracy.
  • Collaborate with teams to ensure data consistency and currency.
  • Assist in the training of new listers.
  • May be required on site for hearings.
  • Attend regularly and adhere to company policies, including safety and ethical guidelines.
  • Perform other duties as required.
  • Perform data collection in all weather conditions, including inclement and extreme temperatures.
  • Deliver quality and quantity work as determined by the project budget.
  • Communicate professionally, clearly, and appropriately with public stakeholders and the Tyler team.
  • Exhibit strong math skills calculating square footage, ratios, etc. for various property sizes.
  • Maintain an approachable and courteous demeanor with property owners.
  • Resolve basic to moderate issues using established guidelines and company policies.
  • Work independently and in a team‑oriented environment.
  • Effectively utilize available resources.
Qualifications

  • Ability to visualize floor plan footprints based on three‑dimensional buildings.
  • Strong math skills to calculate square footage, ratios, and similar functions, including for large multi‑building properties.
  • Must be able to travel to assigned properties and perform data collection in all weather conditions.
  • Must provide reliable transportation and carry personal liability insurance for the vehicle used.
  • Must possess a valid driver’s license issued by the state in which the employee resides.
  • Basic computer experience is required.
