The Controller will play a key role in strengthening financial processes, supporting growth initiatives, and providing clear, actionable insights to ownership and senior leadership.

Key Responsibilities
  • Oversee general ledger activities and month-end, quarter-end, and year-end close processes across multiple entities.
  • Prepare and review financial statements, variance analysis, and management and asset-level reporting.
  • Support acquisitions and dispositions through financial analysis, due diligence, and transaction support.
  • Maintain accurate accounting and reporting for real estate assets throughout the investment lifecycle.
  • Manage cash flow forecasting, budgeting, and key performance indicator (KPI) reporting.
  • Ensure accurate accounting across various ownership structures and legal entities.
  • Coordinate with external auditors, tax advisors, lenders, and other third-party partners.
  • Oversee tax compliance processes and ensure timely and accurate filings.
  • Develop, implement, and enhance accounting policies, procedures, and internal controls.
  • Partner with internal teams and external stakeholders on operational, leasing, and asset-related matters.
  • Oversee insurance renewals and ongoing compliance requirements.
Candidate Profile
  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field required; CPA strongly preferred (MBA or Master’s a plus).
  • 10+ years of progressive accounting experience, including 3–4+ years in real estate accounting.
  • Strong knowledge of GAAP and real estate accounting practices; experience with complex ownership structures preferred.
  • Proficiency with real estate accounting systems (e.g., Yardi), advanced Excel skills, and familiarity with ERP/reporting tools.
  • Proven leadership capability with strong analytical, communication, and stakeholder management skills.
  • Highly organized, detail-oriented, and able to manage multiple priorities in a fast‑paced environment with integrity and sound judgment.
  • Knowledge of NYC and NY State real estate tax regulations and compliance requirements.
  • Exposure to institutional reporting standards and lender/investor reporting.
