Our client, a well-established and highly reputable owner/manager of commercial and multifamily properties in New York City, is seeking a Controller to oversee a team of 5. This company is stable, has a great work environment, and will offer a generous comp package.

Responsibilities

• Maintain and administer internal controls for the property management company’s accounting department.
• Supervise and mentor 4 Senior Property Accountants and a Lease Administrator
• Perform monthly closing of books and records including overseeing reconciliation of operating and tenant security bank accounts.
• Review all CAM reconciliations
• Analyze and reconcile ledger accounts for portfolio.
• Work closely with asset management in creating cashflow projections.
• Administer and record debt service payments.
• Monitor and record payment of property taxes.
• Analyze and record activity of mortgage escrows and reserve accounts.
• Record year-end journal entries and compile audit and tax workpapers to facilitate preparation of audited financial statements and tax returns
• Facilitate various property tax compliance matters (filings for annual certiorari applications, NYC RPIEs forms, and tax petitions)
• Participate in the preparation of annual operating budgets
• Prepare interim operating statements for partner and mortgagee reporting

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or a related field
• 8+ years of professional experience
• CPA preferred
• Proficiency in Yardi, MRI or a similar software
• Prior supervisory experience required
• Proficient working knowledge of MS Excel
