Job summary

Louisville Metro Government is seeking a Code Enforcement Officer to ensure property compliance with maintenance codes, land development standards, and federal housing quality standards.

The role involves independent work under general supervision, inspecting properties, identifying violations, coordinating with owners and agencies, and potentially appearing at hearings to discuss enforcement actions.

Qualifications

• High School Graduation or GED equivalent.
• Six months experience in building trades, property management, fire science technology, electrical, plumbing, mechanical or a related field.

Responsibilities

• Inspects properties to determine violations of applicable code and standards and documents code violations.
• Establishes and maintains effective relationships with property owners, occupants, agents, contractors, and Louisville Metro agencies to address property concerns.
• Requests and executes administrative search warrants to conduct property inspections and ensure code compliance.
• Confiscates dangerous and defective heating devices and addresses rodent infestations as needed.
