Job summary

The City of Georgetown is hiring a Code Enforcement Officer to direct community planning duties, perform field inspections, and enforce municipal codes and land use laws to protect public welfare and property maintenance. The role reports to the Director of Building & Planning and involves working with inspectors and zoning staff.

Qualifications

• Associate degree with a minimum of two (2) years of experience in a job-related field, or an equivalent combination of education, training, and experience.
• Certified as a Property Maintenance Inspector, or ability to obtain and maintain post hire as required.
• Residential Building Inspector or Commercial Building Inspector certifications a plus.

Responsibilities

• Directs field inspections and land use inspections to ensure compliance with city codes and ordinances.
• Testifies at hearings regarding notices of violation or fines as needed.
• Conducts commercial corridor code enforcement and reports findings to the Director and Architectural Review Boards.
• Researches ordinances, legal descriptions, plat restrictions, and ownership information to ensure compliance.
• Communicates with residents regarding complaints and maintains accurate files of investigations.
• Assists the Building Official and staff in assessing damage after storms and during emergencies.
