Job description

The Property Claim Representative is responsible for receiving and reviewing new claims for homeowner and commercial properties as they are submitted into the system. The Representative will contact the insured to discuss the details of the claim. If appropriate, they will consider options for photo estimating or desk adjusting, or they may immediately refer the claim to an Independent Adjuster depending on the severity of the loss. During conversations with the insured, they will discuss the circumstances surrounding the loss and request relevant documentation to support it. The Representative will collaborate with the assigned adjuster to discuss any potential concerns or coverage issues related to losses that have been assigned. They will evaluate and review documentation obtained from insured parties, their representatives, contractors, and other relevant sources. The Representative will also analyze reports and documentation provided by Independent Adjusters. Reserves will be adjusted based on inspections and estimates received. Each policy's coverage will be confirmed by reviewing policy endorsements in relation to the documentation submitted by the parties mentioned above. Once coverage has been confirmed, the insured will be provided with final figures, and the claim will be settled accordingly. The Representative will request payment based on the settlement and will close the file after the claim has been resolved. Supplement requests and requests for depreciation holdback payments will be reviewed as needed. Additionally, the Representative will prepare and send various letters, including denial letters, document request letters, and general status updates. They will also review any lawsuits that may arise from claims, ensuring that they comply with jurisdictional requirements for timely acknowledgment and response to suits. They will analyze the complaints and assign them to an attorney responsible for filing the necessary responses. Throughout the suit and court proceedings, the Representative will maintain communication with the assigned attorney and discuss possible settlements when appropriate. They will also respond to inquiries on the claims “hotline” from insureds, agents, and others. Collaboration with Casualty Claim Adjusters, Large Loss Claim Specialists, Subrogation Adjusters, and outside Counsel will be vital to this role.

Requirements:

A bachelor's degree is preferred. Proficiency in the Microsoft Office Suite, including Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook, is essential, along with experience in Xactimate. Excellent verbal and written communication abilities are required. Strong interpersonal abilities are also necessary. Basic mathematical skills are needed to assess damages. Furthermore, analytical and decision-making skills are important.
