Job summary

Maryland Department of Assessments and Taxation in Frederick invites an experienced manager to oversee the Frederick County Assessment Office, including real property valuation, staff supervision, and day-to-day operations. You will ensure assessments meet statewide standards and coordinate with local government partners.

Responsibilities include supervising staff, reviewing reassessment reports, handling HR aspects, and facilitating property value communications.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university.
• Two years of experience in a responsible management position or in real property valuation.
• Note: Additional experience may substitute for the required education on a year-for-year basis.

Responsibilities

• Oversees the operations of the Frederick County Assessment Office.
• Supervises professional and clerical staff and manages day-to-day office functions.
• Ensures reassessments are conducted and values are aligned with standards.
• Reviews reassessment and annual reports for uniformity and accuracy.
• Handles HR tasks including evaluations, hiring, promotions, and leave usage.
• Communicates certified property values to local government partners and the public.
