Job summary

City of Bay City, Michigan is seeking a Full Time Property Appraiser to assist the City Assessor in completing yearly real and personal property assessments, including periodic re-appraisals. You will prepare records, maps, and files, and exercise independent judgment on daily and long-range issues.

Qualifications include MCAT Level I with MCAO Level II due within 18 months and a Michigan Driver's license. Strong GIS skills and proficiency in Microsoft Office are essential.

Qualifications

• Must possess and maintain MCAT Level I Certification upon hire and obtain MCAO Level II within 18 months.
• Valid State of Michigan Driver's License is required.
• Strong knowledge of GIS, mapping, and property assessment processes.

Responsibilities

• Assist in coordinating and performing the assessment and/or re-appraisal of real and personal property.
• Oversee property transfers and assist in tax warrants, bills, and exemptions.
• Use GIS to maintain maps and verify properties within districts annually.
• Answer taxpayer questions and maintain up-to-date knowledge of laws and procedures.
• Prepare, process, and track property tax exemptions and special assessment roles.
