Job summary

The City of Bay City in Michigan seeks a Full Time Property Appraiser to assist the City Assessor in annual property assessments and re-appraisals, and to maintain assessment records, maps and files. The position requires good judgment, initiative, and the ability to work with little supervision.

Qualifications

• MCAT Level I certification required at hire; MCAO Level II within 18 months of hire.
• Valid Michigan driver's license required.
• Proficient with MS Office and basic math calculations.

Responsibilities

• Assist in the assessment and re-appraisal of all real and personal property.
• Maintain assessment records, maps and files.
• Use GIS to maintain maps, districts and property listings.
• Respond to taxpayers and other inquiries and explain assessment processes.
• Verify issuance of building permits and inspections affecting valuations.
• Prepare, process and track property tax exemptions (IFTs, OPRA, etc.).
• Coordinate with the City Assessor and any contracted workers.
