Position Summary

Exercises independent discretion or judgment in handling all types of property claims. Also assists or acts on behalf of the claims supervisor when required.

  • This is a remote work from home position and will include a company vehicle along with equipment needed for the position.
  • The ideal candidate will live in Lake George, NY or surrounding area.
  • The hiring manager will also consider candidates for Property Adjuster I, with less than 5 years of experience. The level of the position offered will depend on the candidate's experience and qualifications.
Responsibilities
  • Conduct investigations, interviews, and inspections; prepare estimates; handle coverage questions and litigation.
  • Set and maintain reserves; review reports; direct experts; determine coverage and claim value; handle payments and negotiations.
  • Document claim files and prepare reports for closure.
  • Recognize subrogation opportunities and initiate actions.
  • Service assigned territory and bring claims to conclusion.
  • Interact with agents and district managers.
  • Assist or act on behalf of claims supervisor, including legal representation.
  • Complete training and participate in industry programs.
  • Assist in training new adjusters and participate in Catastrophe Team activities.

Qualifications

Minimum Educational and Experience Requirements

  • High School Diploma or GED and five years of claims handling experience, or equivalent; or
  • Bachelor's Degree and two years of claims handling experience, or equivalent.

Additional Experience

  • Resident in the assigned territory unless approved otherwise.
  • Willingness to serve on Catastrophe Team, including travel on short notice.
Designations and Licenses
  • Willingness to obtain and maintain required licenses.
  • Completion of AIC program preferred.
  • Valid driver's license and good driving record required.
Physical Requirements
  • Use of PPE is required.
  • Ability to move over 50 lbs with equipment; frequent driving; climbing heights; lifting and moving various weights; data entry; and moving objects with wheels.
