Job summary

Welltower Inc. seeks an experienced accounting leader to oversee accounting and financial reporting for fixed assets, construction, and property operating expenses. You will lead a team, ensure US GAAP compliance, and support SOX processes with strong internal controls and accurate reporting.

The role emphasizes process improvement, mentorship of direct reports, and collaboration with other accounting groups to deliver precise financial statements and effective stakeholder communication.

Qualifications

• Experience: Minimum five (5) years accounting experience preferably in real estate related activities and receivables.
• Education: Bachelor's degree in accounting or business with an emphasis in accounting.
• Employment is contingent upon successful background check, drug screening, and verification of credentials.

Responsibilities

• Fully proficient in accounting and financial reporting for one or more functional areas: fixed assets, construction and development, property operating expenses, and/or recovery of property operating expenses.
• Demonstrate ability to train and assist the Property Accounting team in all functional areas.
• Ensure compliance with US GAAP and company policies, including internal controls.
• Maintain documentation of policies and procedures and identify opportunities for improvement.
• Identify areas for process improvement and lead or assist with implementation.
• Maintain performance metrics and provide feedback to the Property Accounting team.
• Provide leadership and mentorship to the Property Accounting team and collaborate with other teams.
• Drive delivery of accurate financial statements and communicate with stakeholders.
• Develop skills to support the development of direct reports and key initiatives.
• Prepare, review, and approve journal entries and workpapers with supporting documentation.
• Reconcile and review assigned accounts and maintain working papers.
• Prepare schedules for external reporting including SOX documentation.
• Monitor internal controls and assist auditors in testing controls.
• Perform ad-hoc analyses as required.
