Job summary

Real Estate company in Chicago seeks an Accounting Manager to oversee property accounting for a growing portfolio focused on Life Sciences and Data Center assets. You will lead a small team and partner with internal teams, investors, and ownership to ensure accurate financial reporting and tight controls.

You will manage day-to-day general ledger activities, CAM and cash reconciliations, budgets, audits, and tax support, while driving process improvements and staff development.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting required.
• 7+ years of accounting experience with real estate preferred.
• Staff supervision experience required; supervisor/manager title preferred.
• Yardi Voyager property accounting experience required.
• Institutional real estate accounting experience required.
• Strong knowledge of GAAP; CPA/candidacy preferred.
• Intermediate to advanced Excel skills.
• Strong communication, organization, and attention to detail.

Responsibilities

• Oversee day-to-day property accounting operations and general ledger activity.
• Lead CAM and cash reconciliations, disbursements, budgets, forecasts, audits.
• Provide tax support and acquisition integration; drive process improvements.

Accounting Manager, Property Accounting

A real estate investment company is seeking an experienced Accounting Manager to oversee property accounting for a growing portfolio of acquired assets, with a focus on Life Sciences and Data Center properties. This role will manage a team of two and serve as a key accounting resource for internal teams, investors, and ownership.

Responsibilities

The Accounting Manager will oversee day-to-day property accounting operations, including general ledger activity, financial reporting, CAM reconciliations, cash reconciliations, disbursements, budgets, forecasts, audits, tax support, acquisition integration, and process improvement. This person will also partner closely with the property management team and provide leadership to accounting staff.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting
• 7+ years of accounting experience
• Prior staff supervision experience required; Supervisor or Manager title strongly preferred
• Yardi Voyager property accounting experience required
• Institutional real estate accounting experience required
• Strong knowledge of GAAP
