Job summary

CityPlat is seeking a Property Accountant in Raleigh to own day-to-day accounting for a multi-entity portfolio. This hands-on role covers bank reconciliations, AP/AR, GL maintenance, and closings, acting as the in-house counterpart to our external accounting firm.

You will manage bank reconciliations, AP/AR cycles, and reporting, with Yardi Voyager as the core system. The position offers hybrid flexibility after 90 days and a $50,000–$60,000 base plus performance bonus.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field or equivalent hands-on experience.
• 4+ years of full-cycle or property accounting experience.
• Experience maintaining a multi-entity set of books.
• Hands-on experience with a commercial property management accounting system (Yardi, MRI, RealPage, or comparable).
• Strong Excel skills and ability to reconcile large system exports.
• Attention to detail and ability to manage day-to-day tasks independently.

Responsibilities

• Perform monthly bank reconciliations across operating, security deposit, reserve, and escrow accounts; research and clear reconciling items.
• Record daily cash activity and monitor balances at the property and entity level.
• Manage the AP cycle end to end: invoice intake, GL coding, approval routing, and payments.
• Maintain vendor master file, including W-9s, insurance certificates, and 1099 preparation.
• Post rent rolls and recurring charges; maintain charge schedules as leases change; apply cash receipts and manage AR aging.
• Maintain general ledger across all entities; execute month-end close; support CAM, insurance, and real estate tax billings.
• Book acquisitions/dispositions closings; set up new ownership entities and properties in our system.
• Track brokerage commissions; maintain brokerage trust and escrow accounts; publish monthly reconciliations.
• Coordinate with external accounting and tax team; support month/quarter/year-end closes and financial statements.

CityPlat is a boutique commercial real estate firm based in Raleigh. We acquire, lease, develop, and manage industrial and flex properties, multi-tenant retail, and net-lease assets across North Carolina and beyond, with an in-house brokerage alongside the ownership platform.

We are hiring a Property Accountant to own the day-to-day accounting operations of our portfolio. It is a hands-on seat with real scope: you will keep the books clean and current across a multi-entity structure and serve as the in-house counterpart to our external accounting firm.

What You'll Do

Bank Reconciliations & Cash

• Perform monthly bank reconciliations across operating, security deposit, reserve, and escrow accounts; research and clear reconciling items promptly
• Record daily cash activity and monitor balances at the property and entity level

Accounts Payable

• Manage the AP cycle end to end: invoice intake, GL coding, approval routing, and payment runs
• Maintain the vendor master file, including W-9s, insurance certificates, and annual 1099 preparation

Accounts Receivable & Tenant Billing

• Post rent rolls and recurring charges, and maintain charge schedules as leases are signed, amended, or expire
• Apply cash receipts, maintain the AR aging, and drive collection follow-up on past-due balances

General Ledger & Close

• Maintain accurate, current general ledger records across all entities and properties, and execute month-end close
• Support CAM, insurance, and real estate tax billings, estimates, and annual recovery reconciliations
• Track debt service and escrow activity, and prepare property- and entity-level reporting packages

Transaction & Closing Accounting

• Book acquisition and disposition closings from settlement statements, including purchase price allocation and prorations
• Set up new ownership entities and properties in our system as deals close

Brokerage Accounting

• Track commission receivables and process agent and broker commission splits and payouts
• Maintain brokerage trust and escrow account records, including monthly reconciliation

Coordination with External Accounting

• Serve as the day-to-day point of contact for our external accounting and tax team, delivering clean records and reconciliations on schedule
• Support them through month-end, quarter-end, and year-end close, tax preparation, and financial statements

What We're Looking For

• Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field, or equivalent hands-on experience
• 4+ years of full-cycle or property accounting experience, including direct ownership of bank reconciliations and AP
• Experience maintaining a multi-entity set of books, with a working command of double-entry accounting through the trial balance
• Hands-on experience with a commercial property management accounting system - Yardi, MRI, RealPage, or comparable
• Strong Excel skills and comfort reconciling large system exports
• Attention to detail, consistent follow-through, and the ability to run your own day-to-day

A note on systems

Our books run on Yardi Voyager. Prior Yardi experience is a significant advantage, but if you bring the accounting fundamentals from another commercial platform, we will invest in getting you up to speed.
