Job summary

L3Harris Technologies is seeking a Materials Process Engineer / Propellant Chemist in Camden, AR or Orange, VA. The role focuses on propellant chemistry and manufacturing, working with Propellant Operations to apply advanced principles in energetic materials and related disciplines.

Responsibilities include process design, materials analysis, and documentation, with emphasis on problem-solving, data analysis, and continuous improvement; security clearance may be required.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Chemistry, Chemical Engineering or Materials Engineering with 4+ years in energetic materials.
• Graduate degree and 2+ years of related experience preferred; 8+ years in lieu of degree.

Responsibilities

• Designs, develops and modifies processes for manufacture of solid rocket propellants and energetics.
• Applies chemistry/engineering principles to solve technical problems with propellant technology.
• Participates in design processes including trade studies, supplier selection, and data analysis.
• Develops materials and process specifications and materials control plans.
• Analyses materials to determine operating data; selects materials based on reliability.
• Documents processing, testing, and use of materials; maintains procedures.
• Leads corrective actions and root-cause investigations; supports continuous improvement.
• Ability to obtain a US Secret Security Clearance.
